INTRODUCTION
This part of the catalogue of fossil invertebrates lists the blastoids belonging to the University of Chicago (formerly Walker Museum) now on permanent loan to Field Museum. Consistent with the previous catalogues, only holotypes are recognized as valid types; all other so-called primary or secondary types are listed as referred specimens. The name of the species and its authorship is entered as it was originally published; in addition the publication date is always included. An attempt is made to note all subsequent systematic changes. The stratigraphic and geographic data are those of the original authors supplemented by the Museum cata- logues. Type specimens not located at the present time are omitted from the catalogue.
This work was supported in part by the National Science Foun- dation grant no. GB-7197.
